
We’ve all read at least one How To book. They give us hope that we may just learn something we don’t know or, more specifically, we’ll learn how to do something we can’t. There are thousands, possibly hundreds of thousands, of them; from How To Make Friends And Influence People, to How To Sharpen A Pencil.
My personal favourite is How To Be A Brain Surgeon. I’ve read it more than twenty times and I did manage to get a couple of job offers from the private sector, but the NHS still refuses to let me near patients.
